WisconsinF haven't been fishing bass, the tournament guys last week caught fish in all depths with a variety of baits. Most were as tight lipped as the bass on what they were doing. Tried a new rod yesterday ( 7'6" med lite, extra fast St.Croix extreme). Really wanted to catch a walleye on the first cast. Didn't drop the anchors until I saw fish, they are hard to pick out in the deep boulders, sand very easy. First cast, walleye bite, I missed, second cast caught a walleye. I apparently didn't jinx the rod, in the afternoon tied into the musky in the picture, Tom did a nice job of getting it in the too small walleye net. I'm comparing the new rod to the 7' lite, fast I've used the last two years, not sure yet which one I like better yet anyone interested in my opinion can pm me in a couple weeks. I know the 7'6" handled the musky much better, but then your not buying a walleye rod for musky. Tom used my old rod he was amazed I told him if you put braid on it's almost unfair you can feel a fish swim by your jig. Mike being somewhat of a contrarian brought his own crawlers which I haven't used in a few weeks he surprisingly did as well as Tom and I in the morning in the afternoon the crawler bit slowed. I'm going to start musky fishing after next week, have a lot of open time second half of oct., Do have 4 new St. Croix musky rods.
