This is an addition to the last post with a few pictures. Deep water, light jigs, strong wind, cold hands I can't over emphasize the value of a good fishing rod. We fished with St. Croix's ranging from avids to legend extremes. I tried to estimate the number of hours I will have had a fishing rod in my hand this season, by the time I put my boat away, conservatively 900 hours ( if I can't feel a bite I better take up golf) for me the cost of a rod is insignificant when amortized over that many hours of use, I use a legend extreme. For a combination of value and a great jigging rod a legend tournament is hard to beat. I prefer the new handle design over the cork handle on an avid or premier. With three fingers forward of the reel stem your index finger is completely on the blank of the rod, the sensitivity is fantastic. For good balance I like small reels, the pflueger president 6925 for me is perfect on a 7'extreme, a reel the size of a pflueger 6930 feels right on a 7' legend tournament. The trade off with a small reel is line capacity, with the 6925 I have to fill the spool every two or three weeks , that's every day use on a snaggy flowage. My long winded posts are almost over. The guys Monday had my mind drifting, talking deer hunting. The only outdoor activity I enjoy more then a walleye bite like Monday is tracking a 200lb. buck in the snow. The best time of year for walleye fishing , lot of solitude, the drive in the last couple nights lot of miles driven saw total of one other boat.
