FISHING REPORT 9/9/14 7:34 AM CST Conditions: Cloudy Air Temp: 61° - 65° F Water Temp: 61° - 65° F There has been a change in the weather almost everyday since my last report. I'll start with the two toughest days. After losing the morning fishing to the storm which had a bit too much wind and lightning to fish in, we went out in the afternoon. I wasn't optimistic but customer Keith and I got a mixed bag of fish for his family fish fry the next day. We had one spot with 8 species of fish off a 20' dia. area including a musky, would have set a record but couldn't get the easiest fish, a perch. The following day husband and wife Dan and Susan were dressed for the cold front and strong NW wind. I thought we would have a more enjoyable day not fighting the wind so we headed east. They had a habit of counting fish in Canada, I said I have a clicker and handed it to Susan who was the fish counter. She counted anything with fins, at the end of the day we had caught 56 fish. We had a vary small range of species that day almost exclusively walleye and rock bass, about 60% walleyes, of those mostly small fish. There is a huge population of walleyes from the 2012 hatch they are in the 10-11" range, will be nice eating size next year. As has been the case all summer the cold front did trigger a couple larger walleyes, we had an 18-1/2 and a heavy 21" we released the larger fish. Just looked up at the clock gotta go! I will try to finish this post tonight, still fishing the late summer deep wood pattern, the last few days the minnow bite has been taking over and edging out the crawlers.
