FISHING REPORT
6/27/15 8:11 PM CST
Conditions: Sunny
Story continued from 6-27 post .....Well guys we are on track for the worst catch of the year I have two ideas, you guys decide, we can go after blue gills, I think we will do well on some bigger gills or drive 6 miles to a different part of the flowage and hope the bugs didn't hatch there. Some customers don't put much pressure on you Mike,"we're having a great time lets stay after the walleyes." Our boat ride led us to the same flat water covered with may fly debris. We fished a few deep spots and came up with 2 more perch and two more walleyes. The south wind started to pick up, I started to get the feeling. I said lets go have our shore lunch I think the afternoon is going to be better. After lunch we did well on both perch and walleyes and finished the day with a nice catch of fish in 7-8'. The water temp was 68* the big hatch coincides with a faster walleye metabolism. That was June 11th, the next 8 or 9 days I had several two trip days and drove across the big water side after sunset after dropping customers off in the Bastine area. The may flys were relentless ,it seemed like they were hatching nightly, goggles would have been in order for the boat ride. We had some nice catches of fish in that time frame and some slow days. I told about the slower days in last post, on one of the better days we had enough perch and walleyes for the group of 6 I fished with for shore lunch by mid morning then went bass fishing.
The fishing is picking up, today flat, flat water and bright sunny skies and we still did pretty well working deeper structure casting 1/8 oz. jigs and half crawlers.
