FISHING REPORT
12/30/14 12:49 PM CST
Ice Depth: 11" Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 6° - 10° F Water Temp: Below 40° F
Since my last report we have received about 16" of new snow, ice thickness has remained almost unchanged. I'm measuring around 11-12" of ice. There is some slush in areas especially close to shorelines. I have not seen any trucks coming off of Fisherman's, Springstead or Sportsman's landings. I have been using snowmobiles, travel has been good, just don't stop in slush. I saw a couple 4 wheelers the last two days they did have chains on. The cold weather has put a temporary hold on the bite. This can happen in the winter although not usually to the extent of my last two trips. Sunday we had 18 lines in the water caught a couple smallmouth and pike but only one walleye, for the worst day of ice fishing I have ever had. Yesterday the three of us had three walleyes a couple small released pike and a rock bass for another very slow day of fishing. They will bite again, they gotta eat! Even with the slow bite and cold weather the shanty is warm and the scenery beautiful, we do have a good time.
