Conditions: Partly Sunny Air Temp: 56° - 60° F Water Temp: 51° - 55° F
Hard to believe we're having to get the body acclimated to the cold weather already, I am optimistic we have some nice weather ahead. Yesterday when the sun came out it felt great, but even at that the jackets never came off. We fished for walleyes yesterday , fishing both late summer and fall pattern structure and found them on both. There are fish starting to move into the deep rock in the beds of the river channels. I had a very enjoyable day with two young guys, Cody took his younger brother Corey, home from the Marines, on a fishing trip. They didn't need any instructions from me on jig fishing, we boated 27 walleyes casting 1/8 oz. jigs and fatheads. Most of the fish were small we kept 7 nothing over 15" along with a couple nice crappies and a perch. We caught a lot of rock bass, between the walleyes and the rock bass they chewed through quite a bit of bait providing steady action for most of the day. The brothers came home with a nice bag of fillets for a family fish fry for a get together on their mom's birthday. The area of the flowage we fished yesterday had water temps of 55* which is pretty amazing how fast the temps have dropped. Lot of good fishing ahead, I enjoy fishing all year but my favorite time is coming up.
