Camping Report: Use of the campsites has been light the last few weeks. Fishing pressure has also been low. Parking in the lower lot has been readily available, some week days at 8 am I've been the only truck in the lot. Campers are asked to use the upper lot which has had a lot of open space. There have been a lot of people in the Mercer area, businesses and resorts have been busy, camping however on the TFF from my observation has been low.
Later in the day, yesterday we had a shore lunch, I often use f7 or f8 It is easy to beach the boat into the small gravel and sand with the fast dropping shore line. Late in the day on a beautiful Sunday the sites in close proximity to each other f7, f8, f10 and r17 were all open. For the reason in the summer I usually take f 7 or 8 (nice summer breeze) we took f10, with a 25 mph west wind its harder to keep the heat under the frying pan.
I do like some of the more remote campsites, the sites with picnic tables however do add a lot of convenience for dining.
In the course of taking people to an island for a bathroom break I have named one of the islands mosquito island. Don't know what it is maybe there is a small pond within the island but r6 would be pretty low on my choices for a summer site. During the day while having lunch on the islands mosquitos have been pretty non existent.
