Christmas, Easter, birthdays, anniversaries, opening of deer hunting, tomorrow opening day of the northern Wi 2015 fishing season.
The season came fast for me just wrapping up some carpenter work Wednesday. The last two days cleaning the boat, re-rigging rods.... Took a lap around the flowage yesterday to make sure the boat was in good order. On the home stretch back to the landing got the feeling I often get, what a great body of water! 7 miles from my driveway how fortunate I am!
It is a constantly changing body of water, off in the distance saw a new stump, idled over to it, I recognized it right away, looked to the south a quarter mile where the 18" dia. stump had poked out of 12' of water for years and sure enough the landmark stump was gone. The ice moves things around.
With the spawn over for two weeks now there will be fish spread out in all depths of water some still in river channels but not thick like last year. I will be starting out in shallow water, under 8' bays and flats with wood and warmer water should hold fish, I do like to fish rocks in May. Extra large fatheads and 1/16- 1/8 oz. jigs.
Have fun!
